WO Mic lets you use your smartphone as a microphone.

Wireless Orange's WO Mic is a software tool that installs on both your smartphone and desktop or laptop to create a wireless audio connection. Once this connection is setup, you can use your smartphone as a mic to record yourself or other sounds and save it to your PC. If you don't need studio quality sound recording, this app can save you the extra expense of buying a microphone if you have a compatible smartphone on hand.

There's a total of three software components to WO Mic: A smartphone app, a desktop client, and a virtual device. The client and virtual device are both installed on your PC. When the smartphone app and PC client establish a connection, the app sends audio data that's recorded by the client. The virtual device tricks your PC into believing a traditional peripheral device is being used to receive audio data.

You can use WO Mic on any PC and get the same experience you would using a traditional microphone. The wireless connection causes minimal lag, and the client can automatically connect to your smartphone when the PC boots. Connections can also be established using a USB cable or Bluetooth if WiFi isn't ideal. WO Mic supports 48k sampling rates at 16 bits per sample and mono channel sound.

If all you need is a basic recording device, your smartphone can serve the purpose with WO Mic. It's simple to setup and has an easy-to-use interface. There's no need to go out and buy yet another corded peripheral when you already own a device with a microphone in it.
